How would you describe your home décor?
My décor is equal parts laid-back and elegant. While I love expensive pieces, I also like my home to have a welcoming feel, so I always incorporate cozy items and slightly worn pieces to give it a balance.
How do you keep your apartment looking chic, while still making space for a two year old?
This is not an easy task. For the most part, I’ve tried to create hidden storage spaces for toys so they have a designated place when guests come over. Another trick is to make sure everything that’s within the baby’s reach is safe for her to pull down or knock over. My days of coffee table sculptures and expensive vases are over.C
This fabric is so soft – I was really surprised by its texture; it almost has a silken quality.
How did you style the Luxury Suite duvet set in your room?
This fabric is so soft – I was really surprised by its texture; it almost has a silken quality. I really love to layer my bed with lots of texture and color so I requested the charcoal shade from the Gryphon collection. As you can see I added a coverlet on the bed – this is something I do during the winter months for added warmth. I like a big throw pillow for reading in bed, so I added a Euro sized monochromatic gray pillow to the bed. I also added my must-haves: books, calming crystals, my husband’s vintage reading lamp, plants that purify the air while we sleep, my hygge macramé dream catcher, and an organic beverage served in a mason jar.
You’re known for your stunning work as a set designer and prop stylist. What do you look for when you’re shopping for your home?
Elegant, timeless pieces that incorporate natural materials and textures like wood or marble. I also love to add color to a room with flowers, pillows or throws. This makes it easy to mix and match trending colors or patterns into your décor without a huge commitment.
What are your favorite bedtime rituals? Do you have any go-to products you like to use before drifting off to sleep?
My first priority is getting my daughter to sleep and then I love to take a moment to decompress with a cup of tea. Traditional Medicinals has an herbal blend called ‘Nighty Night’ that totally gets me in the mood for sleeping. I also use lavender essential oil in my diffuser and turn it on before bed. It gives off a delicate scent that instantly relaxes me. I like to wear an eye mask when I sleep to block out the light. I love the Lunya ‘Restore Sleep Mask’ because it oxygenates around the eyes while you sleep. Now that I’ve tried Gryphon sheets, these are definitely going to be a staple in my sleep routine. They’re so soft even my husband made a comment. They’ve passed the test in my home for sure.
